Ketan Kharod first learned about Sathya Sai Baba when he was a senior in high school. Shortly thereafter, his family began a journey to learn more about Swami and His teachings, with a focus on incorporating them into daily practice. In 1997, Ketan had the privilege of attending the First World Youth Conference in Prashanti Nilayam as part of the USA Sai YA delegation. After moving to Austin for law school, Ketan served as the Sai YA coordinator for the Sathya Sai Center of Austin, and later as the Region 10 YA male regional coordinator. He is currently the Region 10 YA male advisor and remains active in the Austin center with his wife, Supriya, and their three children.
Outside the Sai organization, Ketan is a lawyer in private practice, representing whistleblowers and people injured by negligence or corporate misconduct; he also is a part-time career counselor for law students. He is a proud alumnus of the University of Texas School of Law and Georgetown University’s School of Public Policy. He has served on numerous nonprofit and city boards, including 6 years on the board of Asian Family Support Services of Austin (AFSSA), a nonprofit primarily serving individuals and families affected by domestic violence and human trafficking and 7 years as an organizer for Austin’s annual “Be the Change” Day of Service. Finally, Ketan was recently elected as a City Council Member for the City of Sunset Valley, becoming one of the first South Asian candidates to ever win any elected office in Central Texas.
